The Vivekananda Gurukul, established in June 1999 by the Vivekananda Pratisthan, plays a significant role in shaping the lives of students from a national social and educational perspective as envisioned by the late Dr. Avinash Dada Acharya. This initiative was taken to provide high-quality education to children from the rural areas surrounding Jalgaon city. The primary aim of establishing the Vivekananda Gurukul, affiliated with the Late.B.G. Shanbhag Vidyalaya for grades 5th to 10th, was to ensure that children have access to excellent educational facilities. The Gurukul is dedicated to preserving the traditional Gurukul education system and Guru-disciple traditions of our culture, fostering a generation grounded in specific values and principles.

The holistic development of students is a key focus at Vivekananda Gurukul, with special emphasis on literature, arts, sports, music, and drama, along with academic progress. By establishing such a Gurukul, the Vivekananda Foundation not only offers a life-oriented educational approach but also caters to students in North Maharashtra who previously lacked access to quality education. The Gurukul has successfully adapted to the rapidly changing educational landscape, incorporating various mediums of learning to keep pace with the advancements in science and technology. Notable educational branches like the Kashinath Palod Public CBSE School, English Medium School in Wagh Nagar, and Late.B.G. Shanbhag Vidyalaya in Savkheda, Semi English Medium, provide high-quality, modern facilities for a well-rounded education.

Since its inception in 1999, students from different regions have received quality education from the Vivekananda Gurukul and have made remarkable progress not only in Maharashtra or India but globally. They have excelled in diverse fields such as science, medicine, engineering, hospitality, education, environment, agriculture, literature, arts, and sports at both national and state levels. Today, Vivekananda Gurukul accommodates 200 students in a three-story building with 16 classrooms, a spacious dining hall, and a state-of-the-art gymnasium, ensuring individual attention to each student. Regular physical exercises, yoga, pranayama, and prayers are part of the curriculum to maintain the mental and physical health of the students. Additionally, educational tours, visits to notable personalities, projects, and various competitions are organized for the students’ development.

Located near Jalgaon city in the serene surroundings of the Girna river, the Gurukul offers a comprehensive education in CBSE, English Medium, Semi English, and Marathi mediums. More than just imparting regular curriculum, the Gurukul aims to develop well-rounded citizens, enriched with various skills and values, offering parents the opportunity to choose the medium of education that best suits their child’s interests. Vivekananda Gurukul thus stands not just as an educational institution, but as a nurturing ground for the holistic development of young minds.
